DOWNEY-A free information workshop for high school students interested in joining a U.S. service academy will be held Oct. 17 at the Downey City Library.Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard will host the workshop, where students will learn about academy requirements, including the application process for receiving a nomination from the congresswoman. Service academies provide a free college education in return for five years of military service as a commissioned officer following graduation.
