Roger Dale Stanley I

July 23, 1931 - February 6, 2016

Roger Dale Stanley I, age 84, born July 23, 1931 in Corning, New York to Edward H. and Mildred Decker Stanley, died at home in Downey, California on February 6, 2016. Survived by his wife of nearly 61 years Mary L. Perry Stanley;  son Roger Dale (Jan) Stanley II; sister Constance Gauss of Campbell, New York; half-sisters Christine (Bryce) Taft of Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania and Elaine Correa of Hainesport, New Jersey; sisters-in-law Julia (Bill) Fultz and Joyce Perry, Dundee, New York, Laura Perry and Veronica Perry, Rock Stream, New York; brothers-in-law Matthew (Betty) Perry Jr., Dundee, New York, Gary Epperson, Florida, and Rick Saucier, MS; many nieces and nephews; predeceased by parents, stepmother Pauline Stanley; brothers-in-law Bob Gauss, Bob House, Clifford Perry Sr., David Perry and John Perry; sisters-in-law Dorothy House, Joyce Epperson andBarbara Saucier.


Roger graduated in 1950 from Campbell Central High School. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps, active and reserve, from 1950-1959, and was honorably discharged at the rank of corporal. He was employed by Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post, New York and Los Angeles, California, and CompressorSystems Inc.; starting his own compressor parts and repair business, TSI in 1981, retiring in 2006. Roger was a long time member of the Downey YMCA and the O.C. Wheelmen, an avid bicyclist, both single and tandem, receiving many awards. Roger loved all animals and in lieu of flowers, any donations should be directed to the ASPCA. Roger’s wishes were for no services and cremation was facilitated by the Neptune Society.
