DOWNEY - Downey resident Regina May Wheeler, 78, died at 9 a.m. on Jan. 2 at Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center from complications of pneumonia.She was born Aug. 12, 1932 in Colton to Vivian Leonard and his wife, Lucille May. Wheeler graduated from Whittier College in 1953 and served the Los Angeles Unified School District for 30 years as an elementary school teacher. She was married to her husband, Edward Richard (Dick) Wheeler, for 57 years. She is survived by her husband and two children, Jeff Wheeler and Cindy Breland; sister, Jean Brady; and five grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Mies Mortuary.
