Ralph O'Brien Jr. was oral surgeon
DOWNEY- Dr. Ralph Griswold O'Brien Jr., 88, formerly of Downey, passed away June 5 in Griffin, Ga.O'Brien was born August 27, 1921 in Phoenix, Ariz., the son of the late Ralph G. O'Brien Sr. and the late Phyllis Bethel Smith O'Brien. He practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery in South Gate from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. He was past president of the Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Downey Dental Academy, and the South Gate Kiwanis Club O'Brien was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis McAmis O'Brien, and his grandson, Wade McAmis. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, June E. O'Brien and his brother, Brad M. O'Brien, of Albuquerque, NM. Other survivors include his son and daughter in law, Michael and Paula O'Brien, daughter and son in law Linda and Don Radon, son David O'Brien, all of Santa Barbara, and son and daughter in law Brad and Sheryl O'Brien, of Griffin, Ga. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 11 great grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services for O'Brien will be held on June 13 at 2 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin. In lieu flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. George's Episcopal School, 103 Birch Street Milner, Ga. 30259.
