Oncology Institute celebrates 50K patients

DOWNEY – Since its launch on Aug. 16, 2007, the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation has grown to having 12 offices in three counties: Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino. Their 20 physicians have privileges in over 60 hospitals in the Southern California region.

Founded by Dr. Richy Agajanian, the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation “is dedicated to excelling in cancer awareness, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and education through their exceptional team of nurse practitioners, chemotherapy nurses, medical assistants, office personnel, and physicians who are board certified in medical oncology, hematology, hospice and palliative medicine, and internal medicine.”

This month, the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation hit a milestone of serving 50,000 patients.

As the largest private practice cancer center in California, the Oncology Institute continues to provide extensive services including state-of-the-art infusion centers, chemotherapy educational sessions, in-house support groups, dietary and nutritional counseling, in-house pharmacy, financial counseling, clinical trials, comprehensive lab testing, and end of life counseling.

They also offer supportive programs to help patients and families cope with the challenges brought on by cancer.

In May of 2015, the Oncology Institute  expanded to San Bernardino County by opening an office in Upland.

In addition to the growing number of cancer treatment centers, in 2014, the Oncology Institute introduced The Hope, Health, and Healing Center to offer patients alternative and holistic treatments in addition to chemotherapy.  The wellness center’s services nurture the body through exercises, stress relief, and relaxing activities as well as nurture the mind through social work sessions, wellness groups, and self-image improvement programs. The goal is to empower patients to take control of their health and improve their quality of life through their treatment process with better symptom management.

In 2010, the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation was awarded the HOPE Award for Practice Excellence in Patient Care.

The Oncology Institute said it was “honored and humbled” to have served 50,000 patients.
“We are very proud of this achievement. We hope to successfully treat many more patients for years to come,” said Dr. Agajanian.
