DOWNEY - Downey resident Alaina Nieman took first place in a humorous speech contest and will now compete in the division contest tomorrow at the Smart & Final corporate offices in Commerce.Nieman is a member of Toastmasters Club 587 in Downey. Toastmasters Club 587 meets every Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Downey, room 116, at 6 p.m. and meetings are open to the public.
