DOWNEY -- Michael “Mickey” Mercurio, born Sept. 15, 1924 to parents Mateo and Pauline Mercurio in Bloomfield, New Jersey, died peacefully Oct. 22. 

He is survived by a sister, Dolly (Marion) Robey; children Michael Joseph and Ann Marie Mercurio; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

An avid hunter and fisherman, he moved from his self-built home in Los Angeles to another self-built home in Downey. He was a cabinet-maker and installer for more than 40 years until he retired to care for his wife, Grace, who died in 1997. 

He was predeceased by brothers Charlie and Anthony, and sister Lucille (Zumstien). 

Service details are pending. Per his wishes, donations to Habitat for Humanity are preferred in lieu of flowers.
