DOWNEY – Mayor Fernando Vasquez released the following statement in recognizing Raquel Villa of Family Healthcare Center of Greater L.A. with his Healthy Heart Award: 

“The Mayor’s Healthy Heart Award was instituted to recognize individuals who have done a phenomenal job contributing to the well-being of the community. The honoree I have chosen has contributed to the arena of healthcare by making a difference in our community.  

“Six years ago I received a call from a non-profit organization who was thinking about opening a location in Downey. Their objective was and continues to be to serve all who need healthcare, regardless of their ability to pay. What started with one small clinic has now led to five more.  

“This kind of growth does not happen by accident, it starts with leadership at the top. Organizations like this continue to thrive though the exemplary leadership such as that of Raquel Villa who is the Chief Executive Officer for Family Healthcare Center of Greater LA.  

“It is my honor to present Raquel Villa with the Mayor’s Healthy Heart Award for her true commitment toward improving the health, well-being and future success for the residents of the City of Downey and its surrounding communities”
