DOWNEY – A massage therapy clinic has submitted plans to open a location in Downtown Downey, pending approval by the Planning Commission.

Downey Wholistic Center is looking to open at 8201 4th St., suite B. The facility would offer physical and spiritual healing via full body massage, reiki, breathing practices, and counseling.

The 690-sq. ft. center would consist of two rooms with massage tables and a waiting area. There would also be an ADA-compliant bathroom and office space.

Proposed hours of operation are 10 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Friday.

The Downey Police Department recommended stipulations, including that all masseuses be licensed by the city and state, and that windows be kept free and clear.

Planning commissioners will consider the request at its meeting Wednesday night.
