Marylene Morris laid to rest

DOWNEY -- Longtime Downey resident Marylene Morris was laid to rest following services at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier on June 6.

Marylene lived in the Morris family home on Dolan Avenue for nearly 50 years. She was married for 53 years to Dr. Clyde Morris, physician and surgeon who practiced in Downey.

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., where she would later meet and marry her husband Clyde. Following the war, the young couple moved to California where Clyde enrolled at La Sierra College in Riverside, before moving on to the College of Medical Evangelists (now Loma Linda University) where he earned his M.D. degree.

Marylene was the driving force behind her husband's medical career, even helping him open his office in Downey in 1958, and managing his office for several decades.

She is survived by three children, eight grand-children and two great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, and her son, Dean.
