Mary Conceta “Rose” Corey

March 6, 1924 - February 9, 2021

On Tuesday, February 9, 2021 Mary Conceta Corey passed away at the age of 96.

Mary was born at home on March 6, 1924 in Girard, Ohio to John and Mary Colapietro, who were both Italian immigrants. Mary was the youngest of six children.

Mary was baptized on April 6, 1924 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, where later she attended elementary school. She remained a devoted Catholic throughout her life and a member of St. Raymond Parish in Downey, California for almost 30 - years.

On August 10, 1944 Mary and Russell Dean Corey were married at the Trumbull Country Courthouse. Mary survived Russell by many years. They had no children.

Mary moved west to California in the 1960’s, where she lived with her niece Dorothy Shabla and her family. Mary soon accepted employment with Canada Dry Corporation, at the Los Angeles facility and later she was employed by J.C. Pennys, where she retired at the age of 72.

Mary had a passion for “big band” music and loved to dance. She had a quick smile and was known for her kind, generous, life loving spirit.

Surviving Mary are nieces Ursula Cicero, Dorothy Shabla, Alice Kovalcik, and Joan Reer, and nephew John Colapietro along with other Ohio nieces. Other survivors include great nieces and nephews’s and great-great nieces and nephew’s and a small loving group of friends.

A mass will be said for intention of Mary at St. Raymond Parish, Downey, California on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. mass: at St. Thomas More, Henderson, Nevada on Friday May 7, 2021at 8:00 a.m. and at St. Rose Catholic Church, Girard, Ohio on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 8:00 a.m.
