September 19, 1934 – August 7, 2021

Maria Linzner passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at her home in Downey after a long battle with cancer. She was 86 years old.

Maria Theresia Weiss was born in Gilgenberg, Austria on September 19, 1934, the youngest of three children to Josef and Aloisia Weiss. After moving nearby to Braunau am Inn, she met Anton Linzner in 1953, and they married on December 18, 1954. Not long afterwards, their first child, Anita, was born.

Looking for better opportunities outside of Austria, Maria, Anton and their young daughter emigrated to the United States in 1956, settling in Los Angeles. Living near Exposition Park, they had a son, Arnold, in 1957. After 8 years in Los Angeles, Maria and Anton settled in their new home in Downey, where they have lived since. The family was complete in 1967, with the birth of their daughter Diana.

Maria worked for 12 years in the food service operations at Rockwell International in Downey. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her extended family. She is survived by Anton, her husband of 66 years, her children Anita Winfrey (Thomas), Arnold Linzner (Monika), and Diana Johnson (Eric), and grandchildren Sarah Winfrey, Peter Winfrey and Krista Joppru (Matthew). Family and friends will miss her greatly. (Funeral services were held at Hillside Chapel, Rose Hills Memorial Park on Tuesday August 24, 2021.)
