Maria E. Dominguez, 80 years old passed away April 3, 2015. She was born August 10, 1934 in Hachita, New Mexico. Maria Amelia was the first born child to Jose Martinez and Manuela Escamillo Martinez.

Maria moved to Los Angeles in 1950, where she worked at J.J. Newberry’s. During this time, she met and married Manuel F. Dominguez for 20 years. They moved to Downey with their four children: Sandra, Sylvia, Manuel III (Manny) and Steve.

Maria was a full time housewife with creative skills in painting, sewing, crocheting, landscaping and interior decorating. She also kept an energetic life with her four children’s schools, sports, music band and family activities.

Maria jumped back into the workforce for 10 years as a Dietitian at the local convalescent home. There after, she took pleasure in taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandson until she moved to Tucson Arizona.

She was preceded by her brothers: Efren Martinez, Robert Martinez, Ernesto Martinez, David Martinez and Salvador Martinez. She is survived by her siblings: Jose Martinez, Miguel Martinez, Irma Mosher and Norma Martinez.

In addition, Maria is survived by her children: Sandra Guerrero, Sylvia Dominguez, Manny Dominguez and Steve Dominguez. As well as her grandchildren: David Gutierrez, Craig Dunne, Dwayne Dunne, Rhiannon Guerrero, Christopher Dominguez, Chloe Dominguez, E’lysha Guerrero, Sian Dominguez and Izzy Dominguez. Lastly, by her great grandson: Andrew Gutierrez.

Maria’s Memorial Service will be held on June 6, 2015 at Our Mother of Sorrows Church in Tucson Arizona.
