DOWNEY – Margie Anne Richey, 88, passed away April 29 at PIH Hospital in Whittier. She was the daughter of Reatus Watson and Saletha (Wilson) Watson. Margie graduated from Blanchard, Oklahoma High School in May 1944 and started dating her high school sweetheart, Raymond Richey, when he was in the Army Air Force.

They got married Dec. 8, 1944 and had recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.

While Raymond was in the South Pacific, she came west to visit her aunt in Compton and decided to stay in California, working at the state employment office.

After raising their family, she got her real estate license, and later her broker license, leading to their two Red Carpet Richey Real Estate offices in Downey.

Margie was baptized at age 13 in Blanchard, Okla. She remained a member of the Imperial Highway Church of Christ for 62 years.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Richey; son, Brian Richey; brother, Don Watson; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David; and sisters, Dorthy McGaha and Betty Isbell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Imperial Highway Church of Christ.
