Man dead in home invasion

DOWNEY - A 29-year-old Downey resident was shot and killed during a home invasion robbery last week.According to police, two men brandishing handguns entered a home on the 12600 block of Gurley Avenue on Nov. 18 at about 8:35 a.m. A struggle took place inside the home after the suspects were confronted by a 29-year-old male inside. The victim was shot in the upper torso. The suspects were last seen running eastbound on Imperial Highway. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died two days later. His name is being withheld pending a positive identification. Detectives believe the crime was not random and there may be a connection between the suspects and victim.
