Man arrested in deadly hit and run

PICO RIVERA - A Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested Sunday after allegedly running a man down using his vehicle after an argument.A sheriff's deputy was on patrol at about 1:19 a.m. Sunday when authorities received reports of a hit-and-run near Telegraph Road and Passons Boulevard. The deputy was nearby when the report came in and witnesses pointed out the suspect, who was fleeing the scene. The deputy followed the suspect while requesting paramedics to help the victim, officials said. Sheriff's deputies pulled the car over on Slauson Avenue near Boer Street in unincorporated Whittier. Alfredo Campos Jr., 38, was arrested and later positively identified by witnesses. Campos and the unidentified victim were involved in an altercation when Campos got into his vehicle and ran the victim over while he was in the street, authorities said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call investigators at (323) 890-5500.
