DOWNEY -- Downey physician Dr. Mark Schneider was named 2009 Physician of the Year by the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California (OPSC) on Feb. 14.The award is presented annually to a person who, in the opinion of the award committee, "best represents the qualities and traits of an outstanding physician and surgeon." Schneider, a past president of OPSC, is active at Downey Regional Medical Center. He is a past president of the medical staff, present chief of family medicine, program director of the family practice residency program, and a member of the hospital board of directors. Schneider is an associate professor of family medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, and holds academic appointments at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo and Las Vegas. He is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Schneider practices family medicine at Community Medical Group in Downey with Drs.
