The Mary Stauffer Foundation would like to thank the Downey community for all the letters, emails, and beautiful comments honoring the life of our beloved philanthropist and community hero, Dr. Mary R. Stauffer.

Mary’s family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love and respect for their mother.

Mary has always said, “Education is essential in everything we do.” She dedicated much of her life to building the future of our wonderful city by supporting the education and betterment of our Downey Unified students. The Stauffer family is dedicated to continuing Mary’s legacy of creating opportunities for the students, teachers, and schools of Downey Unified School District in the years to come.

Dr. Mary R. Stauffer will be forever missed. We look forward to honoring her with a Celebration of Life event on her upcoming birthday in August.
