Letter to the Editor: Redistribution of wealth

Dear Editor:

I received an interesting Facebook posting from The Conservative Tribune. I will paraphrase an explanation concerning the redistribution of wealth:

A liberal college student was in favor of redistribution of wealth, while her father was not. During a discussion with him he asked how she was doing. Her reply was that she was working very hard, had no time for friends or parties or even a boyfriend, worked very hard and studied constantly to maintain her 4.0 GPA.

Then her father asked her about a college friend. "Oh, she takes easy classes, doesn't show up for class, parties, doesn't study and doesn't try very hard. Her GPA is 2.0. She's not doing very well."

"Well," her father suggested, "why don't you go to the Dean and ask him to take 1.0 from your GPA and give it to her then you will both have a 3.0 and that would be a fair redistribution of the GPA."

"That wouldn't be fair. I work hard for my grades," was the daughter's reply.

Now for those who think there should be a redistribution of wealth and more tax on the wealthy, do you understand the concept? I have worked hard all of my life. And just for the record, I am not a wealthy person. I live on a limited social security income and I have to budget and save.

However, what little I do have, I am reluctant to redistribute.
