Letter to the Editor: Downey's realities

Dear Editor:

Last week while waiting for a bus on Firestone Boulevard, a man had a personal cart filled with bags of recyclables rolling down the street. At my bus stop, a bench had an empty roasted chicken bag with a tray of fried potatoes and a few other sides.

He stopped, sat down and began to eat some of the tray’s goods. The bag had a 12:30 pm timestamp so it had likely been sitting unattended for at least two hours.

I found it heart-wrenching to watch the man eat another’s leftovers and then continue on his quest for more goods to turn in for cash. My sweet lord, this is Downey, California folks.
