Dear Editor: 

The city is going to build another shopping area. I do not think that the city should be building another shopping area.

As a city we have many empty lots or buildings that should be filled first. An idea that I had for the lot that used to be the Downey Studios should be a convention center. That would bring in more people to the city than some shopping area.

The convention center can hold many things like competitions for dances of cheerleading; there are also things like comic book conventions or even for anime. These could have the city’s name in it like Long Beach Comic Con.

All of this is different than what the city has but it most likely will bring more revenue to the city than stores.
