Last chance to see 'Carousel'
DOWNEY - The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "Carousel," presented by the Downey Civic Light Opera Association, is in its final weekend at the Downey Theatre.Performances will be given Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., with the final show Sunday at 2:30 p.m. This weekend also marks the 40th anniversary of the Downey Theatre, which celebrated its opening over a three-day period June 11-13, 1970. "Carousel" stars Robert Standley as Billy Begelow and Jill Van Velzer as Julie Jordan. It features the familiar songs "If I Loved You," "June is Bustin' Out All Over" and the inspirational "You'll Never Walk Alone." Tickets to the show, which was recently lauded as one of the DCLO's "all-time bests," are still available. Box office hours are Tuesday - Friday, 1-5 p.m. The box office is also open one hour prior to show time. Credit card orders are accepted by phone by calling (562) 923-1714.
