Larry Latimer

November 10, 1957 - July 23, 2019

Larry Latimer was born on November 10, 1957 and passed on from this life on July 23, 2019. He was 61 years old and lived almost his entire life in Downey.

Larry was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rose, son Erik, daughter-in-law Lucy, and beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Jackie. He is also survived by four siblings: brothers Joe (Robin) and Rick (Virginia), sisters Laura (Chuck) and Lois. He is also remembered by his loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. He especially enjoyed the holidays and spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind, generous, thoughtful man-with an amazing sense of humor!

Larry worked for the Ford Motor Company for more than 30 years. He was self-employed as a mobile computer repair specialist for the last 10 years. However, his greatest passion in life, besides his family, was serving his community.

Larry had a strong sense of civic duty. He served on the boards of the Downey Historical Society and the Aerospace Legacy Foundation. As Downey’s resident historian, he spoke publically to many civic groups and schools about Downey’s historical significance. He is the author of Images of America: Downey, a book about the history of Downey. He has also worked on many special projects for the City of Downey.

He had many interests including history, computers, photography, golf, hiking, music, nature, gardening, and Angels baseball.
