Large cleanup planned tomorrow
DOWNEY - A large clean-up event between Keep Downey Beautiful and employees from Coca-Cola is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 a.m.More than 200 Coca-Cola employees are expected to help Keep Downey Beautiful pick up trash from the city's railroad tracks. The group will meet at 9 a.m. on Patton Road outside Coca-Cola's Gate 65. The community is invited to participate. Last Saturday, Keep Downey Beautiful partnered with Heal the Bay for Coastal Cleanup Day. Several volunteers from neighboring cities pitched in to help, and 91 volunteers removed 1,860 pounds of trash from the Rio San Gabriel riverbed. Carol Rowland, director of Keep Downey Beautiful, said it "had to be one of the best cleanups ever in KDB history."
