Krikorian celebrates Day of the Dead

DOWNEY – Celebrating the Day of the Dead holiday early this year, the lobby of Krikorian Theatres in Downey last Saturday was transformed into a wondrous display based on Fox’s “The Book of Life,” filled with hand-made papel picado banners, tissue paper marigolds, scenes from the movie and an art exhibit showcasing local artists. Hundreds of people attended the free event, which was promoting the opening weekend of the film. In addition to the art show, there was free face painting, sugar skull decorating and a coloring contest, along with free churros provided by Lucero Bakery.

In addition, Office Depot and HP were on hand, taking photos at a custom-made photo booth where guests could take pictures with props and take home photographic mementos.

The event was topped with a raffle featuring movie memorabilia and a gift card provided by Hot Topic.

“Krikorian Premiere Theatres is dedicated to being an active part of the Downey community and making the theatre a fun, family environment,” theater officials said.
