Friday, July 31 

At 2:25 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 8100 block of Valdina Drive regarding a burglary in progress. The adult female victim was inside her residence when she noticed an unknown adult male had entered her home via an unlocked door. The victim screamed and the suspect fled on foot. There was no apparent loss and officers did not locate the suspect. Detectives are investigating. 

Saturday, Aug. 1 

At 12:40 a.m., while conducting extra patrol at Furman Park (10419 Rives Ave) officers located two adult subjects, who were cited for being in the park after hours. 

At 11 a.m., several protesters, claiming to be members of a local teamsters union, were at Chick-fil-A (8613 Firestone) accosting customers as they entered the restaurant. The protesters were told where they could legally conduct a demonstration and escorted off the property at the manager’s request. 

At 2:30 a.m., a commercial burglary occurred at the Sprint Cellular Store (8554 Firestone Blvd). An unknown suspect(s) smashed the glass front door with a sledge hammer to gain entry. Once inside, they removed numerous cell phones and other electronic items. Detectives are investigating. 

At 10:55 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 7200 block of Stewart and Gray Rd. regarding a report of an attempted burglary. The known suspect came to his ex-girlfriend's residence and attempted to force entry. A 12-year-old child was home alone and refused to open the door. The suspect threatened to harm the victim several times before fleeing. Detectives located the suspect at his residence in the city of Bell and arrested him without incident. 

Sunday, Aug. 2 

At 7 p.m., officers went to Walmart Neighborhood Market (12270 Paramount) concerning an assault. As the victims were standing in the parking lot, speaking with a homeless person, they were confronted by the suspect. The suspect told the victims not to give him (homeless person) money, and an argument ensued. As both parties were leaving in separate cars, the suspect pointed a gun at the victims, before fleeing the scene. Detectives are investigating. 

Monday, Aug. 3 

At 1:55 a.m., officers located an extremely intoxicated adult female passed out to the front of the “Anarchy Library” (13250 Woodruff Ave). DFD responded and transported the subject to a local hospital for treatment, where she was released on a citation.
