Kiwanis hosting casino night fundraiser

DOWNEY – Combining fun and community service is front and center on Friday, April 8, as Downey Noon Kiwanis hosts its Fiesta Casino Night from 6–10 p.m. at the Azar Event Center, 12215 Slauson Avenue, Santa Fe Springs.

Once inside the eloquent banquet hall, an evening of excitement awaits, with games, dancing, and a silent auction to raise money for the Downey Kiwanis Community Service Fund.

Kiwanis International is an organization designed to support programs to help children, youth, and disadvantaged persons throughout the world. Downey Kiwanis is a leader in this effort, both on the local and world-wide stage.

Money raised at the Casino Night will be used to support all seven youth clubs sponsored by Downey Kiwanis that include students in Downey, Lakewood, and South Gate.

Downey Kiwanis financially supports holiday service projects to various Downey charities, such as Downey USD True Lasting Connections, Downey Food Helps, the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, LA CADA, Southern California Drug and Alcohol Programs, and other service-oriented endeavors.

In addition, Downey Kiwanis Community Service funds are earmarked for Kiwanis Family House, Kiwanis International Children’s Fund, and the Kiwanis California-Nevada-Hawaii Children’s Fund.

The Casino Night will also feature silent auctions of individual treasures, such as Dodgers tickets, wine baskets, and get-away weekends.
