In Loving Memory of Jorge Manzanilla

Jorge Manzanilla, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 90. Born in Mérida, Mexico, he was the middle child of five and developed a lifelong passion for electricity and physics from an early age. He later immigrated to the United States, where he worked tirelessly while attending night school, ultimately earning a degree in electrical engineering from NYU after nine years of dedication. His determination and intellect led him to a successful career with companies such as Bechtel, TRW, and Northrop, where his expertise played a vital role in critical aerospace and defense projects, including contributions to NASA’s space shuttle program. Though he was a brilliant engineer, his greatest commitment was always to his family. No matter how demanding his career was, he prioritized being present—ensuring family dinners, offering guidance, and instilling in those he loved the values of hard work, education, and integrity.

Jorge Manzanilla was a man of deep kindness, humility, and generosity, always willing to help others without expecting anything in return. He was a devoted husband who stood unwaveringly by his wife’s side through her battle with Parkinson’s, an inspiring father who nurtured curiosity and ambition, and a loving grandfather who delighted in spending time with his grandchildren. Even after retiring at 78, he remained intellectually engaged, always eager to learn and help others. His legacy of love, dedication, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife Lilly, son George, grandchildren Max and Aria, Brothers Carlos and Mario, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. While his presence will be deeply missed, his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support will never be forgotten.
