Jim Cullison dies peacefully at home

DOWNEY -- Jim Cullison died peacefully at home in Downey on July 14 at the age of 78. He was a long time resident of Downey, living here since 1974.

He is survived by his children Shirley Cullison-Manuel, Jimmie Cullison, and Sharon Slagle, son-in-law Mike Slagle, grandchildren Daniel Slagle, Felicia Manuel, Erica Manuel, Jason Slagle, Jessica Slagle, and Darius Manuel, sisters Linda Hoshor, Donna Kemp, and JoAnn Tokar.  He also leaves behind an extended family including nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Rose Cullison, his father Guy Cullison, and his mother Esther Dunlap Cullison.

He was born near Birds, Illinois on April 3, 1940. He worked at 7-up Bottling Company for about 35 years, and only had to stop because of injury. He married Rose Olmo in 1962.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 26, from 4-8 p.m. at Stricklin/Snively Mortuary in Long Beach.  Funeral services for Jim will be at The Walk Church in Norwalk on Friday, July 27, at 10 a.m.

Jim will be laid to rest at Rose Hills Cemetery.
