Hospital pay cuts
Dear Editor:While it is good news that Downey Regional Medical Center is out of bankruptcy, you really haven't shared the whole story. One of the reasons for this success is the fact that the employees who chose to remain working at the hospital have taken a 10 percent pay cut in the past two years and have not received a raise in the past 4-5 years - thus putting us at the bottom of the pay scale for people in our profession. From housekeeping to nursing, this has put a big financial strain on everyone. I always liked working at DRMC; it felt like family. I just hope that the employees who have remained loyal to this hospital will be recognized and compensated for all their hard work and loyalty. -- Patricia Pedersen, Radiology Department, Downey Regional Medical Center
