DOWNEY -- Nancy Farina of Downey was the winner of Hometown Hardware and Garden's $1,000 shopping spree. 

Farina was chosen at random from hundreds of entries submitted at the store between Feb. 26 and May 1. 

Farina said she was "thrilled" to be able to select $1,000 worth of free merchandise from Hometown Hardware and Garden's spring catalog. Store manager Nick Romero said he was "delighted to give a customer the opportunity to make their household chores and projects much easier." 

Hometown Hardware and Garden is celebrating its third anniversary this month. On Saturday, the store will be giving away a free hot dog and soda to all customers between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
