DOWNEY - Hundreds gathered to attend the grand opening celebration of the new CareMore Care Center in Downey on April 28.The center, located at 10000 Lakewood Blvd., is one of the largest care centers in Southern California. The newly-remodeled senior wellness center has 20 exam rooms designed to provide comfort and ease to its senior patients. Four of the exam rooms are created specifically for diabetes management and podiatry patients. Special low-glare counters and weight scales for patients in wheelchairs have also been installed. "While focusing on preventive health services, the CareMore Care Center is designed to be a social environment where the senior community can meet and feel comfortable, something that has not previously been provided in doctors' offices," said Leeba Lessin, president of CareMore. "Our goal is for all seniors to be proactive about their health and help them prevent disease or detect disease early when it's more curable and treatable." The center offers services such as podiatry, comprehensive medical evaluations, diabetic management, fall prevention programs, and a high blood pressure clinic.
