DOWNEY – Frances Mary Zurek, born in Foley, Minn., on Jan. 25, 1922, the seventh of 10 children born to John Zawacki Sr. and Mary Markowski, died Oct. 28. She had been a resident of Downey for more than 61 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Julie Zurek of Etiwanda, Calif.; and her sister, Mary Kmiecik of Carol Stream, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christ Zurek, in 1994; her parents; and her eight siblings.
