Forever 21 has announced plans to close 40 stores in California as it files for bankruptcy protection. Luckily for Downey, the location at Stonewood Center appears safe.

The retail chain is closing its store at nearby Lakewood Center, along with dozens of other stores throughout the Southland. The L.A. Times has the complete list.

Forever 21 said it’s possible more stores will close as it negotiates its leases.

“The decisions as to which domestic stores will be closing are ongoing, pending the outcome of continued conversations with landlords,” the company said.
