DOWNEY – This Saturday, two parades of fire trucks and engines, escorted by California Highway Patrol, will be stopping at 17 fire stations in the Greater Los Angeles area -- including in Downey -- in an effort to raise awareness for the mission of the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF), which works to reduce burn injuries and to enhance the quality of life for burn victims.

There will be two routes going through different cities: the inland route and the coastal route. Both relays will begin and end at the Los Angeles County Fire Department Headquarters. 

The inland route of the Relay will head to Vernon Fire Station #77, Montebello Fire Station #55, Downey Fire Station #1, Santa Fe Springs Fire Station #81, Monrovia Fire Station #101, San Marino Fire Station #91, San Gabriel Fire – ALH Training Center, and finally ending at Los Angeles County Fire Headquarters. 

The coastal route will head to the Beverly Hills Fire Station, Santa Monica Fire Station #1, El Segundo Fire Station #31, Manhattan Beach Fire Station #21, Torrance Fire Station #93, Los Angeles Fire Station #112, Long Beach Fire Station #1, and Compton Fire Station #41 before returning Los Angeles County Fire Headquarters. 

At each fire station stop there will be a check presentation to recognize the contributions that each department has given to the Foundation. CARE Ambulance is also sending a BLS unit on both divisions of the relay.

The public is invited to meet at a fire department stop. The relay is expected to stop at Downey’s Fire Station No. 1 at about 9:45 a.m. The fire station is located at 12222 Paramount Blvd.
