DOWNEY – Funeral services for Fernando Sanchez Jr., 54, of Norfolk were held Dec. 10 at Home for Funerals, Norfolk. Burial will be in Allbery Cemetery, Norfolk. 

He died Sunday, Dec. 6, at Mid Nebraska Lutheran Home, Newman Grove, NE.

Fernando was born June 27, 1961 to Fernando and Gloria (Contreras) Sanchez Sr. in Chicago. He moved to California at a young age and grew up there. After attending high school Fernando moved back to Chicago. 

In 1987 he moved to Norfolk and worked for IBP. Fernando had several other jobs in the area also.

Fernando devoted most of his free time to the Salvation Army where he was a Soldier of Arms.
Fernando is survived by his father and his wife, Fernando and Herlinda Sanchez Sr. of Downey, CA, his mother Gloria Contreras of Chicago, a daughter Desiree Perez (Sanchez) and his granddaughters Jaylene and Avery Castaneda of CA, brothers Joseph and Edward Sanchez, sisters Kathy and Diane Sanchez, brothers, Gilbert, Ernest and Jerry Reyes, 8 nieces, 8 nephews and 2 great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
