Earthquakes strike near Bell

BELL — A pair of small earthquakes rattled the southeast Los Angeles area, although the magnitude of the temblors was downgraded Wednesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey initially reported a pair of 3.0-magnitude quakes occurring near Bell, one at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday and another four minutes later at 9:41 p.m.

Early Wednesday morning, the USGS revised the magnitude of the initial quake to 2.7. The second shaker was revised downward to 2.8.

Both shakers were centered just west-southwest of Bell and east of Walnut Park. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
