E-waste collection Aug. 13.

DOWNEY - Residents can safely dispose of household hazardous and electronic waste at a roundup event Aug. 13 at the Los Angeles County Office of Education, 12830 Columbia Way.Household hazardous waste can include paint, automotive fluids, pesticides, fertilizers, oils, cleaners and solvents, pool chemicals, outdated medication, nail polish and remover, fluorescent light bulbs and batteries. E-waste includes computer monitors, televisions, VCRs, fax machines, steroes, computer keyboards and cell phones. There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle, and items should be placed in a sturdy box in the trunk of the car. No tires, trash, explosives, ammunition or radioactive materials will be accepted. Neither will waste from businesses. The roundup is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is sponsored by Los Angeles County.
