DOWNEY — Three sets of parents were recently honored as being Parents of the Year, representing Downey’s three public high schools.

Honorees included Lilia and Saul Haro (Downey High), Norma Marroquin and Israel Molina (Warren High), and Lisa Louie (Columbus High).

Katrin McCarthy, wife of former mayor Keith McCarthy, was also recognized for starting this annual recognition in Downey more than 20 years ago.

The award committee included Katrin McCarthy, Martha Michael and Dorothy Pemberton.
