Downey's Lissette Rivera honored as Woman of Achievement

DOWNEY – Downey resident Lissette Rivera, a founding member of the War on Lethal Fentanyl (WOLF), was recently honored by State Sen. Bob Archuleta as a 2024 Woman of Achievement representing the 30th Senate District.

Rivera helped to create WOLF in 2022 in response to the growing number of fatal fentanyl overdoses.

"She's a true inspiration and a beacon of hope for her community," said Mayor Mario Trujillo. "Lissette's tireless work and dedication have helped to raise awareness and make a positive impact in the City of Downey and surrounding areas. Her achievements are a testament to the power of compassion, determination, and hard work, and serve as an inspiration to us all."

Rivera is also a small business owner and serves on Downey's Public Works Commission. She is a member of several community organizations in Downey, including the Assistance League of Downey, Downey Chamber of Commerce, Downey Association of Realtors, and Rotary Club.

As the wife of a Navy veteran and a mother of four, Rivera is passionate about promoting mental health awareness, providing early intervention for children with special needs, and ensuring social support for all children in the community.
