DOWNEY — Downey has set the date when Blanca Pacheco will be sworn in as mayor. 

The transition ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 pm inside the council chambers at City Hall. 

Pacheco, entering her sixth year on the city council, will take over the position of mayor from Claudia M. Frometa, who led Downey over the past year. 

It will be Pacheco’s second stint as mayor. 

Councilman Sean Ashton, entering his final year on the city council, will be appointed mayor pro tem.
