DOWNEY - Air Force Airman 1st Class Russell Davies V. De Leon and Airman Christopher R. Vega graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.The two Downey residents completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. They also earned four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. De Leon is the son of Maria De Leon, of South Gate. He graduated from Warren High School in 2005 and earned an associate degree in 2007 from Los Angeles College International. Vega is the son of Rey and Alejandria Vega, of Downey. He graduated from Downey High School in 2007.
