DOWNEY — Downey police officers will conduct a driver’s license and DUI checkpoint Friday night at an undisclosed location starting at 8 p.m.

While authorities wouldn’t disclose the checkpoint’s exact location they said it will be placed “based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests.”

In 2017, Downey Police investigated 157 DUI collisions resulting in 76 injuries.

At the checkpoint, police will be checking for proper licensing along with signs of drug and/or alcohol impairment, which could include alcohol, marijuana or prescription drugs.
