DOWNEY — Downey Federal Credit Union is now accepting applications for a pair of $1,000 college scholarships.

The credit union will award $1,000 to a high school senior and $1,000 to a college student “for academic excellence and community service.”

To be eligible, the high school student must be in their last year of high school and either reside in Downey or attend a Downey school.

The college student must have attended a Downey area high school, live in Downey, or have a parent/guardian who is a member of Downey Federal Credit Union.

Winners will receive their scholarship at the credit union’s annual meeting April 5 in the Warren High School library.

Application deadline is Feb. 22. Students can apply online.
