Downey Art Vibe (DAV) celebrated the grand opening of Stay Gallery with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring city council members and Mayor Roger Brossmer on Oct. 11. The following night was the art gallery's "Launch Night," intended to raise funds and introduce the public to the space. According to Stay's executive director, Valentin Flores, approximately 1,200 guests attended the two-day event and nearly $8,000 was raised. DAV, which hoped to raise $20,000 during the two-night celebration, has extended their fundraiser to the end of October in anticipation of raising the remaining $12,000. ********** Published: October 18, 2012 - Volume 11 - Issue 27
