DJAA sent a fourth grade team to represent Downey in a recent flag football tournament. Downey beat Cerritos, Montebello, Long Beach, Carson and Inglewood to win the City of Champions Tournament, sponsored by SCMAF. Downey then played in the 14-team state tournament but lost in the championship game against Porterville.
