Distracted driver hits pole in Industry
INDUSTRY - A motorist distracted by his cell phone plowed into a telephone pole last Friday in the City of Industry, officials with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.The driver was traveling through the intersection of Baldwin Park Boulevard and Temple Avenue at about 8:49 p.m. when he reportedly dropped his cell phone. As he leaned over to pick it up, the vehicle veered toward the curb and struck a telephone pole, sheriff's officials said. The telephone pole was heavily damaged and live electrical wires fell to the ground, authorities said. There were no reports of power outages. The driver suffered a broken ankle and was treated at the scene.
