Crime Report: December 2021

On Nov. 29 at 4:30 am, officers responded to the 13200 block of Woodruff Ave, in regards to a carjacking that just occurred. A preliminary investigation determined the adult male victim was seated in his vehicle and parked in his driveway, when an unknown male approached his driver side door and demanded he get out of his vehicle. The male was armed with what the victim believed was a rifle wrapped in clothing. The victim exited the vehicle and the suspect fled in the vehicle. The victim was unharmed.

On Nov. 29 at 8:20 pm, officers were dispatched to a call of an assault with a knife at the Promenade. The victim, an adult male, was riding his bicycle at the Promenade. Unprovoked the suspect, a male adult, swung a knife at the victim before fleeing the location. Officers were unable to locate the suspect and the victim was not injured.

On Dec. 4 at 10:55 pm, officers responded to an armed robbery at Mr. Pete’s, 12050 Woodruff Ave. Three suspects entered the business through an open rear door. One suspect was armed with a firearm and demanded money. The suspects fled the location with the money from the register.

On Dec. 6 at 8 pm, officers responded to King’s Smoke Shop, 8024 Stewart and Gray Rd, in regards to an armed robbery. Two adult male suspects entered the location and demanded money. One suspect pointed a black rifle at the victims, while the second began placing merchandise in a bag. The employees were not harmed and the suspects fled prior to police arrival.

On Dec. 8 at 8 pm, officers were dispatched to 7121 Firestone Blvd, Home Depot, in regards to a robbery report. The adult male and adult female suspects fled the store with unpaid merchandise and were confronted by Loss Prevention. The suspects threatened to assault the employees and fled the location in a vehicle. Responding patrol officers located the suspect vehicle. The suspects were positively identified and arrested.

On Dec. 9 at 1:15 pm, officers responded to 9020 Firestone, Big Lots, in regards to a robbery. The male suspect entered the store, selected merchandise, and walked towards the exit failing to pay. The manager attempted to stop the suspect as he exited and the suspect threw a shopping basket at the manager. Responding patrol units located the suspect and placed him under arrest.

On Dec. 11 at 2:55 am, officers were dispatched to a carjacking at the 10800 block of Woodruff Avenue. The male suspect confronted the victim in their garage, brandished a handgun, and demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle. The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle and the victim was unharmed. The suspect left a vehicle at the scene, which was connected to a prior carjacking in another city. The detective bureau conducted the follow-up investigation and the adult male suspect was later located and arrested.

On Dec. 20 at 2:55 am, officers responded to an armed robbery in progress at 7624 Firestone Blvd (Albertsons). The adult victim was approached by two suspects in the parking lot. One suspect brandished a handgun. The victim handed over their property and were not harmed. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

On Dec. 21 at 7:15 pm, officers were dispatched to 9020 Apollo Way (Ulta) in regards to a robbery. Three suspects entered the store, filled shopping baskets with merchandise, and attempted to leave without purchasing the items.  The manager attempted to detain the suspects and was pushed to the ground. The suspects fled prior to police arrival and the employee was not injured.

On Dec. 22 at 6 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Paramount Blvd. and Florence Ave. in regards to a road rage incident. The suspect followed the victim eastbound on Florence to the intersection of Paramount Blvd. The suspect exited his sedan and pointed a black handgun at the adult victim who was seated in her vehicle. The suspect returned to his vehicle, fled southbound, and was not located.
