Thursday, June 25:

At 12:30 a.m., officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Los Angeles after he was observed attempting to steal mail from a mail drop box at the post office (8111 Firestone). The suspect had rigged a string with sticky tape that he used to “fish” mail from the drop box. He was booked for theft. 

At 10:30 a.m., a driver fled from an officer during a traffic stop on Lakewood Boulevard at Cecilia Street. The driver was quickly apprehended and the vehicle he was driving was determined to be stolen from the City of Lakewood. The suspect, a 17-year-old male from the City of Bellflower, was arrested for grand theft auto. 

Friday, June 26:

At 2:15 a.m., three suspects armed with handguns entered the El Altacor Restaurant (9456 Telegraph) and robbed the business. Nobody was injured, but the suspects escaped with the restaurant’s money. Detectives are investigating. 

At 7 a.m., officers located six subjects trespassing on the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed at the 105 Freeway. All of the subjects were issued citations before vacating the area. 

At 9 a.m., a parking enforcement officer located a man sleeping in a stolen car on Lakewood at Donovan. The car was reported stolen from the City of Fresno. Officers responded and arrested the man without incident. The suspect, a 33-year-old man from Utah, was arrested for grand theft auto. 

Saturday, June 27: 

At 8 p.m., officers arrested two males, a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, in the 7900 block of Stewart & Gray after they were observed writing graffiti on a city light pole and sidewalk with black spray paint. Both were booked for vandalism. 

Sunday, June 28:

At about midnight, two females walking through Brookshire Park were approached by two males armed with a knife who robbed the girls of their iPhones. The suspects then ran away, both suspects who had been identified by the victims were eventually taken into custody and booked for robbery.
