Crime Report

Thursday, June 11 
At 9:30 a.m., officers located five subjects camping on a private vacant lot in the 12800 block of Woodruff. Each was issued a citation for trespassing before vacating the area. 

At 1:30 p.m., officers arrested a man at his home in the 8400 block of Rives after he fired a gun at his roommate during an argument. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, but was arrested a short time later by detectives. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Nobody was injured. 

Friday, June 12 
At 4:00 a.m., a man withdrawing money from an ATM machine in the 13500 block of Lakewood was robbed by two men who approached him from behind. One of the robbers pointed a gun at the victim while the other robber reached into the victim’s pocket and stole his cell phone. Both suspects then entered a car and drove away. Both suspects were later taken into custody by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. 

At 8:00 a.m., officers assisted Railroad Police with removing trespassers from railroad property on the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed south of Firestone. Downey officers contacted five subjects, two of whom were arrested for warrants. The other subjects were issued warnings and left the area. 

Saturday, June 13 
At 2:00 a.m., officers arrested a 26-year-old Downey man after he punched his ex-girlfriend in the face during an argument at his home in the 9000 block of Parrot. The victim sustained minor injury from the assault and the suspect was booked for domestic violence, a felony. 

At 6:00 a.m., a 23-year-old Downey man was arrested for being drunk in public after officers found him passed out, disoriented, and unable to care for himself in front of an apartment building in the 12000 block of Paramount. 

Sunday, June 14 
At 11:30 a.m., an officer observed a “hand-to-hand” drug transaction in the parking lot of Apollo Park. The officer subsequently contacted three subjects and found them to be in possession of various amounts of marijuana. Two of the subjects were issued citations and released, but the third subject was in possession of nearly 2 pounds of marijuana and had a warrant for his arrest. He was booked for possession of the marijuana and outstanding warrant. 

At 11:45 p.m., officers arrested a man for investigation of drunk driving after he crashed the car he was driving into a parked car in the 9300 block of Paramount. During their investigation, officers observed signs of intoxication and arrested him.
